The Fitbit Web API shuts down in soon. Save your history

Every heartbeat,
kept.

BetterChimp pulls heart rate, sleep, HRV and activity from Fitbit and Google into one private timeseries: minute by minute, back to the first day you wore a tracker, compared against your own normal.

Invite-only. Your data is never sold, shared or used for ads.

Works with
Minute by minute

Every reading, not a daily average.

Heart rate arrives as fine as one sample per second and is stored per minute with its lowest and highest values. Steps, distance and calories are kept by the minute, too, so a day can be read the way it was lived.

  • Today fills in every few minutes as your devices sync
  • Years of history backfill automatically, newest first
  • Corrections from the source replace old readings, never duplicate them
Against your own normal

Compared to you, not to averages.

HRV, resting heart rate, breathing, blood oxygen and skin temperature each sit inside your own 30-day range. You can see at a glance what’s typical for you and what isn’t. There are no opaque scores or invented numbers.

  • A normal range from your last 30 nights
  • Changes highlighted only when they leave that range
  • Goals you choose for sleep and steps
Sleep, stage by stage

The whole night, not just the total.

Every awake, REM, light and deep stage is kept with its exact start and end, so you can see how a night unfolded, compare nights, and spot what changed.

  • Sessions that cross midnight stay whole
  • Naps are kept separate from your main sleep
  • Classic Fitbit logs and Google Fit segments included
Every source, side by side

Nothing merged. Nothing lost.

Each source keeps its own readings, so a Fitbit export, the Fitbit Web API and Google Health can disagree in plain sight. Charts always say where a number came from.

  • Fixed colors per source, so a line never changes identity
  • Tables behind every chart
  • A read-only API for your own tools and assistants
Time-sensitive

The Fitbit Web API shuts down in a few days.

Google is turning off Fitbit’s original API on October 30, 2026, and with it the easiest way to get your history at full resolution. BetterChimp pulls every day it can, within Fitbit’s rate limit of 150 requests an hour, while there’s still time. After that, Google Health and Takeout exports keep things going.

Connect Fitbit now
How it works

Three steps, then it runs itself.

  1. 1

    Connect

Sign in with Google, then connect Google Health and, while it lasts, the Fitbit Web API. Read-only access, and you can disconnect at any time.

  2. 2

    Backfill

Every ten minutes, BetterChimp keeps today fresh and walks your history backwards to the day you started, pausing politely at each provider’s rate limit.

  3. 3

    Explore

Today shows your progress and your body against its normal. Trends charts any metric from any source over any range. An API serves it all to your own tools.

What it measures

Four families of signal.

Heart

  • Heart rate, per minute with range
  • Resting heart rate
  • Heart-rate tracked time

Body

  • Heart rate variability (RMSSD)
  • Respiratory rate
  • Blood oxygen (SpO₂)
  • Skin temperature
  • Weight & body fat

Sleep

  • Stages: awake, REM, light, deep
  • Time asleep and awake
  • Bedtime, wake time, efficiency

Activity

  • Steps, per minute and per day
  • Distance and floors
  • Calories and active energy
Yours, end to end

Private by design.

No ads, no selling

Your health data is used for one thing: showing it to you. It’s never sold, shared or used to train anything.

Encrypted credentials

Provider tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and bound to your account. Access is read-only.

Owner-only sign-in

Only approved Google accounts can sign in. There are no passwords to leak or reset.

Your data stays open

Every reading is a timeseries you can query, chart or export, with the source and units attached.

Questions

Good to know.

Can I sign up?

Not yet. BetterChimp is invite-only while it’s built out, and sign-in is limited to approved Google accounts.

What happens when the Fitbit Web API shuts down?

Everything already collected stays. Google Health keeps collecting new Fitbit and Pixel data, and Fitbit or Google Fit exports from Google Takeout can fill in older history.

Does BetterChimp change anything in my Fitbit or Google account?

No. It asks only for read-only access and never writes back. You can revoke access from BetterChimp or from your Google account at any time.

Where is my data stored?

In a Cloudflare D1 database that belongs to this BetterChimp deployment. Provider tokens are encrypted at rest. See the privacy policy for details.

Is this a medical device?

No. BetterChimp shows what your devices measured. It doesn’t diagnose, treat or give medical advice.
